Team Ethiopia: Greetings from Washington D.C.

The following is an update from Team Ethiopia, a small group from Central Church in Memphis, TN, who will be serving as short-term missionaries at Children’s Home Ethiopia in June 2010. We’ve invited our dear friends and ministry partners to post their trip updates and prayer requests here on the TFC blog.  Enjoy…

Because of some travel issues (most likely due to the World Cup in South Africa starting on Friday, June 10) four of us (Joe, K.C. and the McGugan’s) left a few days early and have an overnight layover in D.C.  Our flight left Memphis Thursday morning at 9am with a stop off in Charlotte before arriving in Washington around 4pm.  We were blessed with some good weather which made for a relatively easy trip.

Right now three of the four team members are sitting back and enjoying some cards as we get a little bonding/down time before the long flight tomorrow.  Our travels tomorrow will take us from D.C. to Rome to Addis Ababa.  All in all it should be around 15 ½ hours on the plane and we are scheduled to arrive in Ethiopia around 8am Saturday morning.

Please pray for safe travels for the four of us tomorrow and for the remaining five team members that will begin their travels on Saturday morning.

We thank all of you for your prayers and continued support!

In Christ,

Team Ethiopia

Kelly and Heather McGugan

In June 2010, we traveled to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia on a short term mission trip. For just over a week, we were able to invest in The Forsaken Children’s partner ministry, Onesimus, and therefore fall in love with the children and community it serves. Since our first experience in Ethiopia, we have jumped in with both feet to serve The Forsaken Children. Heather is now a board member and Kelly the volunteer sports ministry coordinator - both of us working hard to advocate “lasting hope for Ethiopia”. We live in Memphis, TN with our dog and attend Central Church. Kelly recently graduated from The University of Memphis with his degree in Sports and Leisure Management. Heather works in sales for a safety company and is working on a second degree in nursing.
