I just sent this in an email to Heather, and then I thought maybe all of you would be encouraged by it:

Praying for you guys today as you say goodbye to those kids. Can’t imagine how heart-wrenching it will be. Praying that, in your brokenness, you will be reminded that there is HOPE! This is what you did in Ethiopia:

1 The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me,
because the LORD has anointed me
to preach good news to the poor.
He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim freedom for the captives
and release from darkness for the prisoners, [a]

2 to proclaim the year of the LORD’s favor
and the day of vengeance of our God,
to comfort all who mourn,

3 and provide for those who grieve in Zion—
to bestow on them a crown of beauty
instead of ashes,
the oil of gladness
instead of mourning,
and a garment of praise
instead of a spirit of despair.
They will be called oaks of righteousness,
a planting of the LORD
for the display of his splendor.

Isaiah 61:1-3

There will be glory given to the Lord because of YOUR time in Ethiopia. And He will continue to work in these kids after your gone. There is hope!

I don’t know what I am going to do without these daily updates. I feel sad about you guys leaving also, and I cannot imagine the sadness that you are experiencing preparing to say goodbye. I will pray for you all as you take your next step and begin the journey home.
I am glad to hear Kara slept well, and I know God is answering all of our other prayers too.
Thank you all for being willing to take a risk and step out in a new role for the Kingdom of God. Even thinking about how God has used this team leadership role in Joe’s life makes me so happy and curious about some of the things God might have up His sleeve. I am proud to call several of you friends, and by praying for you all this week I feel a special place in my heart for you all, as well as those you have been ministering to.

OMG!!! It doesn’t surprise me that Heather hopped on stage BUT TOM!!! I wish I could have seen it with my own eyes. LOVE IT!

I’ve already been praying for your goodbyes. It will be tough

Guess ALL of you will just have to come back again.

I can’t tell you how encouraging it is to have 8 more people love these kids. Thank you for sacrificing your time and talents to love “the least of these.”
