Today we arrived around 7am. Our flight was smooth and we made it through customs very quickly. Nega (Director of Onesimus, The Forsaken Children's partner Ethiopian ministry) and two children greeted us and took us to our guest house. We are doing well; however, we are all experiencing jet lag, headaches, & stomach issues. The altitude here is so high and it is very hard to breathe. The air is much different than ours.
When we arrived, we came to the guest house and stayed here for about 2 hours. Then, we went to a soccer game. We were able to see the Onesimus team play in their awesome University of Memphis Blue jerseys! It was fun to see the children and be welcomed by them so warmly. We are called "foringes"! At halftime, some of our team members went to play soccer with the kids. My favorite part of the day was to hear two of the children sing in an Ethiopian accent, "I have decided to follow Jesus, I have decided to follow Jesus, no turning back, no turning back!"
After the soccer game, we went to have lunch at a local place.
We could all barely keep our eyes open! Exhaustion is an understatement.
We can all agree that we have had to fully rely on God today. We have come to a country, where we don't know the language, we don't know where we are, but the only thing that is certain is that God is with us. God is showing us all patience.
More to come tomorrow, as of now we are going to get some rest...
